HSBC, graduate recruitment as usual.

Despite the hammering banks appear to be getting, HSBC say that their graduate recruitment program will run as normal throughout 2009.

The credit crunch continues to squeeze world markets, with property and banks as particular casualties, yet a study of the top 100 employers has shown that graduate recruitment will drop by only 1% over the next year.

The research by the Times shows that more than a half of companies expect graduate recruitment to remain the same as 2008.  At HSBC their senior graduate recruitment manager explains that they expect to recruit their senior managers through their scheme, eight years in advance of them arriving.   As a result, to recue their program now would leave them short in 8 years time.

Other sectors looking to boost their graduate intake are the public sector which is upping it's program by 20% and the armed forces increasing by 12%.
